That is what is I am saying inside as I sit here and nurse the little and semi-supervise the big. Oh my who am I kidding, he knows I am useless at the moment.

Bunk bed room remodel

So yesterday Tio Richard arrived early in the morning with mattresses and a bunk bed!!!

Daddy and Uncle Josh got to work...

They got it all out and were making progress till there was a hardware shortage issue.....

Nothing a trip to Home Depot couldn't fix....twice!
MJD used the boxes to make a race car while he waited on bed completion....

By lunch time we had fully functional bunk beds in the room, minus the sheets...that was our post lunch activity.

The struggle

Sometimes it isn't easy to let them be little, to struggle and to conquer.

But as I live in this world of boy, ego, and being warriors I have to remind myself to slow down and let the boy learn to be a man, even in little things like conquering frozen ice cream.

Oh, how I want to jump in and help him!!!

Completed projects

I have had projects sitting on my craft table stacking up.....and it grates at me....hate starting and not completing. And with Father's Day presents needing to be finished this past week some things got completed :)

I Spy Quilt for Liam to play with.....

Homemade play doh for Rea's birthday present.....

Glass etched candy dishes......
Marshmallow gun and soldier bag for Finn's birthday

Hooded baby towel for my growing bean....
By the way....that pacifier is no longer a newborn size :( Bean is getting big!

Tutorials and directions are posted here

Intentional messes

I've loved reading my girlfriend Becka's notes on Sacred Parenting. After her first post I wanted to get the book and read it, then realized I'm getting the Cliff Notes version through her blog posts :) One thing she said that struck a cord was being intentional.....Need more of that.

So the past couple of weeks we have had some Intentional Messes.....shaving cream on the table,
Covering toy cars in shaving cream....

whip cream from the can,

cleaning clean dishes,

things MJD says he wants to do that I would normally be like, "No baby that will make a mess ."

The messes were definitely worth the smiles :)

Picasso and Bach

I sometimes stare at my children while they're playing (well MJD) and wonder what will they be when they grow up, what interests will they love, hobbies and such....but for today we have in our home an artist....
and a musician.....

Father's Day 2011

We had a great Father's Day this year. The boys and I did some shopping for Daddy before the big day and got Tim some new clothes, which is what he asks for each year. We also planned ahead and sent Papa Peter a card and got Papa Don his presents and cards made in time :)

Eh

You know how you plan to write a blog post, then when you get to the actual post, what you wanted to say doesn't come out at all.

My intent in this post was to write about all the fun projects I have been working on, and finishing, but instead I took a moment, read another blog and now my post isn't so fun anymore.

Mixed emotions....not sure I want to write it out....so I'm going to remind myself of some important words.

A hope deferred makes a heart sick, a longing granted is the tree of life....

Sometimes the ing is just long..... but long still bites!

Good Morning

As MJD is holding Bean in bed he tells him, "look at me, I am your big brother."

Cake Pop

I read a blog on baking................Mistake #1

Decided I would make Cake Pops for a small 31 Party I was going to host........ Mistake #2

Didn't make a sample batch the day before.........Mistake #3

Didn't realize you would need 10 pounds of sprinkles for them.............Mistake #4

What they should have turned out as......
My reality.....

Oh well, I have a boy....he loves cake....now you know what our snack will be this week!

End of the day

It's been a looooong day......busy, rushed, stressed, yet fun in the end. When I walked into my room this evening this is what awaited me......

Nik and Nat

Came across this photo when I was looking through things.....and then she called me. Amazing how some friends can go months without talking and pick up where you left off. Love that.
Love how easy it is to catch up, cry, talk about things, make each other feel better, just be friends.

Breaking rules

Last night we ate whip cream right out of the can! And right before bed too!
Smile was totally worth it!

Fishing, Friends and Fun

A couple of weeks ago, we all got invited to go spend the day with some friends in Pirate Harbor. We had a blast fishing, swimming, grilling food and hanging out with some sweet people.

Reeling in a big fish Daddy caught.

27 inch stripped bass.... Only good catch of the day :)

Even bean had fun....in the shade and under the fan of course :)

By the end of the day, it was time for some quiet fish observation with Woobie and Mr. James

Smile for the camera :)

Just needing some attention...sometimes being a big brother is a lot of work, but I'm told I do a good job at it.

A 2 month Bean...

(This posting is a tad late....so goes our life!)

At 2 months old Bean loves to sleep! You went to the doctor and had 4 shots :( But you were such a great trooper and while you did have a slight fever were never super miserable and didn't seem to require meds to help bring it down.

You're still eating often during the day but are going on and off with 5-6 hour nights :) Love that!

Don't quite love that you're still a baby barracuda when you eat....new experience is a milk blister for mama :( not pleasant at all!

Stats from the doctor: 12.6 pounds 23.25" long and 15" head

Growing like a little bean should...newborn clothes are all packed away again, into the 3-6 months. Diapers are a challenge, still making you use up the size 1 but you really need the 1-2 size.

At about 7 weeks old you started to smile consistently for us and then just at 2 months you started cooing and talking.

Staring up at the fan and lights, one of your favorite activities.
Big brother was jealous and wanted into the photo!

Some days

You just have to stop what you're doing in life and mow the yard with bubbles, in your fireman boots nonetheless......

Moodys

Some people are only in your life for a short season of time, but the impact they have can be so powerful that it shapes your life for the rest of your time. Alyson Moody seemed to have that impact on my life. She stepped into my world last summer, at a time when I needed a friend, and her sweet family was such a God send to our family. As they've journeyed down a road with Chick Fil A, they have finally been called to operate a full store in Elizabeth City, NC. We're so happy for them as they reach out and walk into their dream. But at the same time, we've had to say goodbye to this season of life with them.

Short as it was, it was indeed sweet! So before they left Florida, we had to have another dinner event!

Slacker

I am such a slacker with some things this go around on baby 2.....one such is birth announcements.

With MJD they were purchased and mailed out before he was 3 weeks old. With LAD...well there is a stack this is getting mailed out tomorrow and that should be the last of them. I hope :)

So for anyone who reads this and for whatever reason isn't getting one in the mail, these were the two final contenders....I couldn't decide, so I ordered some of both and randomly mailed them out to those on my list :)
