Jungle Crocodile Tour

My dad loves the croc tour. He's been on it a dozen times, I'm a bit surprised the crocs don't know him by name. He tells everyone who comes to visit about it and will take anyone who wants to go. So when Jasmine and I came for vacation and decided to go he was all in. I must say I was rather impressed with the tour guide who went on shore and fed a bloody chicken to a mammoth sized crocodile. I mean who does that, in a river with close to 3,000 crocodiles who wants to walk up to an 18 foot croc and feed it brunch?
At one point there were two crocs in the same territory. Apparently they are super territorial and we almost witnessed a live croc fight. The tour guide showed off his scars of his past four attacks where he has been caught by the crocodile. I must say the experience was so much more fun than watching National Geographic documentary on "Killer Crocs of Costa Rica."

Canopy adventure

So today we decided to try the waterfall canopy tour. I mean we've already been to Costa Rica several time and we've never done the canopy tour? How can that be? So after two hours, almost 200 dollars and at least a week of sore muscles, we completed our first waterfall canopy tour. We had two hysterical guides, Emmerson and Patrick. Both of them, along with my endearing husband had way too much fun picking on me today. While I didn't mind it too much, I will say I did get a little freaked out when I had to propel down the ropes at the end of the tour. The rain forests are beautiful and it was absolutely amazing. I'm not a big fan of heights, and the idea of being suspended in the air by cables and duct tape rather freaked me out, but the experience was totally worth conquering my fears. Tim and I had such a great time. I've even included the pictures with the super dorky orange safety hats. I think they make them ugly on purpose so the tour guides can laugh at all the tourists who do the zip lines.

A new beginning

There's something about being here that just relaxes me. I think I finally understand what it is my parent's love about their retirement location. As I was in the pool the other day I felt the pressure of all my problems and pains come over and and then just disappear. I know that sounds rather ridiculous, but I have been struggling with some challenges for a while and struggling more with how to react to the problems than the actual problems themselves. I feel like this vacation has been more than just a time to relax and get rejuvenated, I feel like I am getting a new perspective and can come home to a new beginning next week. I suppose it it this feeling that prompted me to delete the other blog I had been writing and start a fresh.....

Sophia Marie Torres

My sister-in-law just had another baby. Using the opportunity to play around with some photography, I took some of her newborn photos. Granted I'm not a professional photographer, but I dare say they didn't turn out too bad at all. What do you think?
