A Walk.....

I went on a walk with a boy

He gave his heart and showed me his soul

He held me and told me together we'd grow old

He asked me to be his to have and to hold.

11 years ago we went on a walk. 300 feet that forever shaped the choices and decisions of my life. A few minutes in time that marked my destiny and stole my heart. A short walk in the distance of space, but it began a journey that we'll walk until eternity comes.

As we walk through this year we'll be joined by another little boy, I ponder that first walk I took with a boy, I can only begin to imagine the many walks God has for us to walk together as we walk them with two little boys so much like their daddy.

Nursery update

Nursery renovation began in our home!!!!

The room is painted and some furniture moved it. We've begun to slowly get out baby gear....amazing how one tiny little creature requires such large equipment and items.

When thinking about the theme and feel of this little bean's room I feel in love with greens and browns. Not traditional nursery colors, but it felt so right for him. Something about it makes me feel so peaceful and strong, much as I suppose he'll be.

The room still has quite a ways to go, but we have time yet. Instead of the traditional buying of a crib set, I decided to match everything to a blanket I had fallen in love with. A friend of mine is on a top secret mission and working with me on the wall display that will hang about his bed.

I am super excited about this project, but won't be revealing it till he comes :)

I ordered some fabrics to make make baskets for his shelves and hope to do that next month and then am working on a couple ideas for the wall opposite his crib that will involve pictures of him when he arrives.

The pictures above kind of make the room look like it is two different shades of green, but they aren't just the lighting.

7 months

7 months down, 3 more to go exactly from today.

Very much a content and passive little baby, especially when I remember how busy your brother was at this stage. To be honest, I rather enjoy this difference. I am so looking forward to learning all about you and your personality.

I got sick last week with a cough and cold...you are surely not a fan of my coughing spells.

Your bedroom has been painted, furniture moved in and clothes washed. Really starting to get everything settled for when you arrive.

Took your brother with us today for an ultrasound. He was quite excited to see you but more excited to hear your heartbeat.

(Here he is waiting for you to show up on the ultrasound screen and trying to be silly.)

So far it appears your kidneys are doing okay. This morning one was back to normal and the other one looked large but only from one angle, so I am thinking everything is fine.

Technician said you are about 2.5 pounds already.

You are quite a strong little kicker, much more so than your brother was, so I am glad you are less active :)

Oh sweet boy, can't wait to hold you in my arms. Until then keep growing strong and know mama loves you dearly.

Bad combination

Bad combination.....7 months pregnant and sick :(

Tired....more like exhausted.

Bad cough....makes little bean unhappy with each coughing fit.

Tired of laying in bed, but not willing to risk getting out and feeling weak.

Missed the women's conference I was supposed to go to today.

Hope this passes quickly.

Saturday fun

We've only got 4 more Saturday weekends together with just the 3 of us as a family.
(I know there are more weekends till the baby comes but Tim has a class he has to do so he will be busy for 8 Saturdays.)

SO.....today we enjoyed some family time, and some getting ready for the baby work.

Trip to Abbe's Donuts for the first time. Yummy!
Prepping the room to get painted. Goodbye Harbor Blue.
MJD really wanting to paint the room.
Practicing his painting technique...with a dry roller of course.
Hello Asparagus!

Pictures of freshly painted room with furniture to come soon. Painting should be 100% complete tomorrow and then furniture moved it! Eek!

100 Days

That's all that is left until my little bean arrives!!!!

Can hardly believe we're embarking on double digits soon. Can't wait to meet him. Super excited.

Feeling quite big.....doesn't help I am constantly noticing my belly every time I have to squat down to tie a shoe lace, pick up a toy or carry a toddler.

I know the days will drag on and fly by.

Baby envy...or just excitement

My girl friend passed on some baby gear to us last week and when I turned around this is what I found.
Not sure if it was just curiosity or jealousy, but when I explained that MJD was too big for the baby swing he did get out, but then he got his animals and put them in.
Thank heavens they have a factor of safety on Tue weight limits.

Endurance & Encouragement

Setting:
Last day home on break and I want to get some stuff cleaned out, organized, sorted and so on. Rosie from church is having a garage sale this month to raise money with the kids for World Vision and it's the prefect opportunity for me to purge some things in my house and make room for all the stuff that comes with a tiny baby.

When MJD went down for a nap, I cleaned out the book case and went through an old bill box I used to use for organization. Inside I found this tiny piece of paper that my Abuela had written for me. It's Proverbs 31:30 written in Spanish. She used to just write these little verses and tuck them into our belongings so we would find them on us every now and then.

Don't remember the occasion for which I received it, but it must have been special because I had saved it hidden away all these years.
It's now taped inside my favorite Bible.

I went to my devotion station while nap time is progressing and began my new study on Esther. With working there's no way I can make it to ladies morning Bible study and trying to work and go to a study at night makes me feel neglectful of my family, exhausted and way to far behind on household needs during the week, so I don't make it at night during the school year.
But in all honesty, if I don't have a systematic study with a daily requirement and something I'm interested in, I simply lack the self discipline to do it. I would like to say I can just open the Bible and do it, but I am to ADD for that. Just laying it out there.

So on New Year's Day while we were in Ft. Myers I went to the Christian book store, picked out a new Beth Moore study and decided I would just do it on my own and download the video each week. I know it costs more money and all, but at least this way I am investing something into it and it gives me accountability.

I downloaded the video but it's not compatible with Macs so I have to find a way to convert the file to MP4 before I can view it. Not wanting that to hinder the start....I began anyway. As I got close to the end of the first lesson....and while somewhat wondering if I had chosen the right study for this phase of my life, God gave me this verse.

Romans 15:4-For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

I needed that. Today I needed to see the words of the past to encourage my heart and strengthen my endurance.
